Families may wish to explore home schooling for their children for any number of reasons. When doing so, all of the pros and cons need to be
carefully considered before proceeding. Home schooling can have long-term implications for a child’s educational progress and opportunities
for education and employment after high school.
The framework for the approval and administration of home schooling is set out in provincial legislation, in the Schools Act, 1997.
The Nova Central School District “Home Schooling Handbook” outlines information families need to consider when pursuing this educational option.
If you have questions or want additional information on home schooling, please contact the Programs Division/District Office at (709) 256-2547.
