Nova Central School District values a cooperative relationship with the media. The primary contact person for the media at
the district is the Senior Administrative Officer (SAO) – Corporate Services, who coordinates media relations activities.
The Director of Education is the official spokesperson for the district.
The SAO (Corporate Services) will work with the Director’s office and school administrators/assistant directors to provide
the media with appropriate information and access in a timely manner. The school district must balance cooperation with the
media with the privacy of our students and staff.
- General requests for information or background materials should be directed to the SAO (Corporate Services).
- Media representatives (journalists, photographers, videographers) are not permitted on school grounds to interview, photograph or videotape without prior approval. The media are requested to contact the district’s SAO (Corporate Services) or school administrator prior to any school visit.
- Media access and interviews with staff members or students will be arranged at the discretion of the Senior Administrative Officer or school administrator.
- Interviews will not be conducted during school hours or on school property without the approval and presence of a school administrator or his/her designate.
- The district will not release any personal information to the media about a student or any information that may reveal a student’s identity.
- The district will not release any personal information about an employee to the media or any information that may reveal an employee’s identity.
- The district will not comment on matters that are before the courts.
- Consent must be provided by a parent/guardian before any student is photographed, videotaped or interviewed.
