Our Schools

Nova Central School District currently operates 66 schools in a large geographic area covering from Charlottetown in the East to the Baie Verte Peninsula in the west, to Harbour Breton on the south coast, to Fogo Island on the north east coast.

Our district has eight schools which are only accessible by ferry. These ferry rides range from five minutes to 90 minutes one way. We have 26 Kindergarten to Grade 12 schools and our school populations range from 8 students at some small schools to almost 900 students at Gander Academy.

The district incorporates a mix of rural schools and urban concentrations in towns like Grand Falls-Windsor and Gander. The majority of students in our district are bussed to school.
